Principle Consultant – Document Management Systems

Job Description

Hands on and highly experienced consultant to help build the large Law Firm Document Management Systems (DMS) practice and direct supporting resources with deep expertise in client file management, governance, security and DMS matter centric solutions for Am Law 200 Firms. Ideal candidate must have knowledge of the business of law firms and how to drive user adoption through effective change management.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct end to end business analysis and design of content lifecycle management within the DMS electronic client file.
  • Integrate content lifecycle management with Firm information governance, security and privacy policies and processes.
  • Deploy Firm information governance, email, security and privacy policies as related to content in the DMS.
  • Create detailed business and technical assessments of Firm content lifecycle management and produce highly professional findings and recommendations documents. Must have excellent track record of regularly producing complex assessment reports for C level presentations.
  • Assist clients with the design & implementation of DMS systems along with other technologies, specializing in HP WorkSite (iManage) and other leading DMS deployments.
  • Maintain a high level of technical expertise, industry- knowledge and professional disposition.
  • Design, document, implement, deploy, and manage implementations of DMS systems.
  • Evaluate existing DMS implementations and develop recommendations for problem resolution, enhancement, and tuning; presenting recommendations to client’s management, administrative and/or technical staff.
  • Develop, maintain, and manage against complex multi resource, multiyear project plans, implementation timelines, and application distribution schedules.
  • Develop and refine existing design and implementation methodologies.
  • Define, document and implement best practices for the DMS practice group.
  • Maintain and develop vendor relationships specific to the DMS practice area.
  • Maintain current and ongoing knowledge and certifications with appropriate training opportunities.
  • Mentor and coach members of the team within the DMS group on individual projects and best practices.
  • Maintain a high level of subject matter and technical expertise as well as industry trends and knowledge with appropriate training and professional development plans.
  • Present at trade shows and CIO Roundtable, author articles and white papers for industry trade publications.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Must have substantial law firm and law firm consulting experience for consideration. Experience in the analysis, design, implementation, administration, and support of electronic document management systems, with a history of matter centric design (HP WorkSite 9, NetDocuments, OpenText eDocs).
  • Highly experienced  ( 5 + years) consulting in the Legal Vertical with proven track record of estimating and leading MCC projects – particularly Focus Group sessions with Attorneys.
  • 2+ years of experience and competence in working with Microsoft SQL Server databases, especially with the iManage WorkSite databases and schema.
  • 7+ years of experience with complex, large-scale implementations and product rollouts is required.
  • 2+ years of experience in the integration of desktop applications with document management systems is required.
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office suite applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • 2+ years of experience with legal word processing functions and associated work flow.
  • 2+ years of experience in the analysis, design, implementation, and administration of Microsoft Windows Server-based networks preferred.
  • HP Records Manager Certification and implementations a plus.
  • HP Universal Search and Control Point certification and implementations a plus.
  • Understanding of the business of law firms, including risk management issues facing firms.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills as well as presentation experience.
  • Track record of speaking and writing on law firm DMS issues, including speaking at conferences such as ARMA and ILTA.
  • Travel varies.

  • Can be anywhere in the US as long as you are near a major airport .  Local and out of town travel is required.
